I’ve moved to a new blog to reflect my new start and current interests. See you there!
Ooh I had lovely things in the mail today! Got some lovely stuff off my local auction website for very good prices.
In Her Garden Dimensions Gold kit – SO pretty
Southwest Cat Design Works kit – this is a Joan Elliott design I haven’t seen before but love it!
Two Jill Oxton’s Cross Stitch & Beading (I’m slowly collecting these)
I’m loving stitching this! The orange umbrella is stitched with 4 strand half stitch and on 18 count aida it’s quite hard to pull through but it looks great.
These are the WIPS I have left out to work on – I always have to have a large selection lol. I also have several charts I want to kit up so will add those to the list once I have them. I am thinking of starting Coffee Break again on a different fabric (possibly 32 count belfast) as I’m not completely happy with the fabric I used (28 count monaco evenweave).
This is a gorgeous design from Joan Elliott called Wisdom of the East. I am loosely following along with a stitchalong on Facebook after it was mentioned by the lovely Paula. This has been a fiddly design so far and have had to frog quite a bit.

And my progress
It has a lot of gold kreinik in it and I’ve already used up two and will need more.
I’ve had a busy and somewhat stressful last month. I’ve still been stitching though so will share my progress later.
My kids and I have lived with my parents for the past 2 years, after being in and out of rentals after my separation from my kids’ father and selling the house we had. I live here as its great support for me and my high needs kids, they are in zone for a fabulous school and we all get along well. We live in Auckland, which has got extremely expensive for housing. My parents want to retire somewhere other than Auckland and we’re tossing up where we’re going. They will put the house up for sale in the next few weeks then we will buy a house for my parents and a house for me (close to them, but with more independence for me).
To that end I have packed away all my craft supplies except for some cross stitch WIPS that I’ve kept out to work on. I cannot wait to have my own crafting space in my own house! Plus space for my kids to have a trampoline and being able to have a dog again. 😀 My daughter will be so happy.
Its going to be stressful though as selling/buying/moving houses is, plus we have the added stress of my autistic son who does not like change – we can’t even mention moving or anything to do with the house around him as it upsets him. I am feeling a lot of uncertainty as I’m not sure of which area to go to – both places are 2 hours drive from Auckland. One is a larger town and one is a smaller town and I’m not sure what will suit us best. I also have to make sure the school my kids go to will be able to have the support that both my kids require.
We don’t know how long the house will take to sell, it shouldn’t take long as its a sellers market at the moment (not many houses up for sale), but you never know. I also have my car up for sale, and that money will go into the house budget, so here’s hoping that sells quickly too!
I’m really worrying about all of this. I know it will all work out but I just hate uncertainty, I need to have a plan!
I’ve been working on Medieval Maiden, finishing off the gold over skirt. It’s been a frustrating stitch as I kept making stupid counting errors and having to frog and re stitch. I’ll come back to her soon but am moving on to another WIP now (haven’t decided which one lol).
My kids are back at school and seem to like their new teachers, even my son R, so that’s awesome. Love my kids but nice to have some time (and quiet!) to myself.
